The holidays came early for some very special New Mexico organizations – Albuquerque Healthcare for the Homeless, St. Martin’s Hospitality Center, Peanut Butter and Jelly Family Services, CNLKids (formerly known as Cuidando los Ninos), and OASIS – when Blue Cross and Blue Shield of New Mexico provided checks for their work in keeping New Mexicans healthy, active and safe.
Blue Cross and Blue Shield of New Mexico External Affairs team played Santa’s elves in mid-December when they surprised the organizations with the delivery of $50,000 as part of our Healthy Kids, Healthy Families® Grant (HKHF) program. The organizations were chosen through a competitive grant application process. In all, BCBSNM awarded more than $345,000 in HKHF grants to 12 organizations in New Mexico.
The BCBSNM Healthy Kids, Healthy Families initiative is designed to encourage health education, promote physical activity, prevent and manage disease, and support safe environments. The program works through investments and partnerships with nonprofit organizations that offer sustainable, measurable programs that improve the lives of New Mexicans.
