Laugh. Who always makes you laugh? Spend time with that person – either on the phone or face-to-face! It will lift your spirits and lower your stress level. Remember, social connections not only reduce stress, they increase longevity.
Unplug. It’s hard to get away from technology. Still, studies show that text alerts, news, social media – everything we peruse to stay connected just makes us more stressed and anxious. Give your body and mind the quiet time it needs need to relax. Set aside some tech-free time tonight and stay off your phone, laptop or tablet.
Meditate. There are lots of health benefits linked to meditating. Meditation can lower your heart rate and blood pressure. It can also fend off anxiety. Not sure how to begin? Try this easy one-minute meditation routine to get started.
Soothe it out. Nothing takes the edge of off a stressful day like doing something you enjoy. Listen to music, take a hot bubble bath, spend some time on your favorite hobby. They are the perfect antidote to stress.
Move your body. You knew exercise would be on the list, didn’t you? Here’s the good news: You don’t have to haul tractor tires or do 200 squats. Just lace up your sneakers and go for a walk. You’ll feel better afterward.
