JEANINE PATTERSON: We are having an overnight oats in a jar party. What we discovered is hard to get a healthy, hearty, nutritious breakfast every single day. This is really a great way to do that. You can make these ahead of time, you can do it with a group of people or you can do it by yourself on a Sunday. You can put these in the refrigerator and they are ready to go every single day. The really exciting thing about overnight oats is that, is that oats is one of the most nutritious foods on the planet. They are high in fiber they lower your cholesterol and they are good for your cardio vascular system. They lower your blood sugar and there are a lot of health benefits that oats can provide.
Many people say that they don’t have time for a healthy breakfast. They rather drive thru and pick something up, but it is more expensive and is certainly not as good for you. This is really just a great way to make something ahead of time and grab it in the morning and you have a healthy breakfast to start your day and energize your body for the rest of the day.
Four ingredients for overnight oats is half a cup of regular oatmeal, not quick cooking, one half to one cup of your milk of choice, cinnamon and I like to put chia seeds in all of my overnight oats from there any ingredients that you like in your oatmeal are recommended. You give it a stir and let them sit in the fridge overnight. You can actually eat them as early as two hours, but overnight is ideal and them last for up to a week.
Another health benefit of oatmeal is that it stabilizes your blood sugar, that because they are very high in fiber which keeps you regular and it keeps you satisfied for many, many hours and keeps you from getting hungry until the lunch hour.
When you get people to come and bring one or two ingredients each, you can make the best and beautiful overnight oats. You can get a variety of fruits and variety of nuts and a variety of ingredients and it doesn’t cost your pocket book a lot of money. You can do it every economically when people pitch in and then you can share the ingredients and it is just a lot more fun doing it with friends anyway.
